Celebrate summer in Bondi with friends, lovers and others.
A summer of live music and feature films under the stars is on the way, as Bondi Openair Cinema (29 January 2012 – 4 March 2012) returns to the Dolphin Lawn next to Bondi Pavillion, overlooking the beach. This marks the third leg of Australian Openair Cinema, which kicked off in Brisbane on 18 October. The outdoor cinemas are located in some of Australia’s iconic locations, beginning on the Cultural forecourt at South Bank in Brisbane on 18 October 2011, to the rooftop of the St Kilda Sea Baths and finally making its way to the shores of Sydney’s Bondi Beach on 29 January.
Bondi Openair nights are a quintessentially summer event; with feature films playing on huge outdoor screens from dusk. Cinemagoers can relax with some gourmet-style food and tasty beverages from the licensed bar, while listening to the sunset sounds of acoustic sets from emerging musicians.
Before the films begin at sunset, Bondi Openair presents the best of the emerging Sydney music scene, with local musicians playing acoustic sets on the Sunset Stage, last years season included sets from Jack Carty, Ashleigh Mannix, Nick van Breda and Six String Karma. Australian Openair has featured some of Australia’s best local talent in previous years, including sets from Ryan Meeking, The Little Stevies and Miriam Lieberman. Stay tuned to see who we have playing this year at Bondi!
At dusk full-length films screen under the summer stars. The eclectic line up is one of quirky comedies, retro classics, great Australian films, award winning films, new releases, premieres and sneak previews.
See you under the stars!
