Bondi Openair Cinema - FAQs / Contact Us

Is this an over 18 event?
Yes, the Bondi Openair Cinema is a fully licensed event restricted to persons over the age of 18.  Under 18 year olds will be only be permitted when accompanied by an adult.

Can we bring our own food and drink to the event?
The Bondi Openair Cinema is a fully licensed event (no BYO).  There is an inexpensive bar and we have arranged, with the generous support of our sponsors, a large selection of great value drinks and yummy food (including vegetarian choices).  You can also bring a picnic, but there is strictly no glass and no BYO drinks allowed at the event.

Where is the cinema actually located?
The Bondi Openair Cinema is held in the courtyard amphitheatre of the Bondi Pavilion.

Is seating provided?
Seating is in amphitheatre style seats with tiered rows to provide unrestricted viewing from each seat.  Seating is unreserved, so come early to get a good spot.  Bring a cushion and blanket for a more cosy experience.  We also provide a small number of Bean Bags, for complimentary use.

What about if it rains or gets cold?
The Bondi Openair Cinema is an all-weather summer event.  It can get chilly at night by the beach (even after a hot day) so it's a good idea to bring warm clothing and a blanket.  Movies will still be screened if it rains, so bring wet weather gear if rain is predicted, just in case of showers or cooler weather.  If a session is cancelled for any reason, your tickets will be exchangeable for any other night of our season.  Please see door staff for details.

What times do the screenings start?
Gates open at 6.30pm giving you time to enjoy pre movie entertainment and the sunset.  The film will start at sundown.  Remember seating is unreserved so be there early to get a good seat.

What's the sound and picture quality like?
We offer one of the best cinema screens and sound facilities for a great movie experience.

Can I bring my dog, goldfish or pet mouse along?
Unfortunately pets are prohibited at the Bondi Pavilion.
